Jan Alba - Flute and Saxophone

Bio

Jan’s experience on the flute spans over thirty years. In addition to her classical background, Jan is able to improvise easily with most styles of music.  She began her collaboration with singer/guitarist Rusty Crowell in December 2000 when they were each recruited by a mutual friend to play in a Christmas Eve service. Following the event they agreed to explore how their divergent backgrounds would complement each other. Together, they create a modern and innovative interpretation of many well known songs. They play a diverse assortment of styles including classical, originals, popular, and folk (to name a few). They are available for many venues including: Coffee Houses, Bars, Senior Centers, House Concerts, Weddings & other special events.

Jan is the principal flutist of the Tri-County Symphonic Band and a member of Melanie and the Lost Vaqueros. She records and performs with various other artists in the South Jersey and Philadelphia area, and is a proud supporter of the Philadelphia Folksong Society and many other area organizations.
