Hear What Other People Are Saying!

Rusty and Jan provided background music for my very large 60th Birthday Party in a Center City Restaurant. Their music added a special touch to the party. They were just the right volume for people to be able to talk to each other, and they gave the whole evening a pleasant atmosphere. The music they played was very tasteful, light jazz, classical, Beatles, Simon & Garfunkle etc. They were the consummate professionals. My guests had a great time and many of them commented on how great the music was. I would hire them again in a heartbeat. Thank you, Rusty and Jan!

Rusty and Jan provided the perfect background music for our Volunteer Appreciation Dinner. Our residents loved their repertoire and the touch of class that was added to our event. We thank Rusty and Jan for helping to make our dinner a success!

Don't be fooled by the easy-going campfire approach Rusty and Jan convey. They are serious, trained musicians that have paid dues in many a music venue. They give you that folk festival feeling, but in addition, they create an atmosphere that makes one believe that one is in a folk world of the past. You almost expect a young Peter, Paul and Mary to be in the wings taking notes.

When I think about the heart of this PA/NJ area folk scene, Rusty & Jan are at the forefront. They combine traditional classic elements with hip modern style augmented by their friendly personality, whether on the big stage or unplugged at a folkfest, along with longtime collaborator 'Tom' of 1st Names Only, their harmony, instrumentation and songwriting are loved by their many fans and peers. Rusty's resident 1st Wednesday Roundtables start every month off in popular fashion, often joined by his partner Jan, the most sought after woodwind player around, together they're a bonified triple treat!

Rusty & Jan combine elements of radio ready singer-songwriter stylings and classical woodwind elements for a unique Americana music experience. Their original material has a timeless feel, giving the sense that their songs are "classics" even if they were written just a month ago.

Rusty & Jan, you were fantastic. You did just what I hoped for and more. You uplifted that night and super-charged it right exactly when it needed it. I can't express my gratitude enough, for the two of you being so patient to go on, and such artistry when you did! You took me out of my hosting head and I was transported to just sheer enjoyment of the moment. Thank you for that.  t was certainly a rare occurrence on such a crowded night of responsibilities.

I never expected anyone to hear my song "Lucky Day" and felt bad I had even suggested to you guys to do it at my show, but it sounded great! The passionate singing made the lyrics believable and the soaring flute accentuated the melody. You gave it the Rusty & Jan treatment and it worked so much better than anything I could have done with it.  It may have been the biggest surprise of the night. Thank you.

We hired Rusty and Jan to play ‘Mummers’ type songs to entertain the members of our Quarter Century Club at our annual luncheon. The luncheon was held at the historic Downtown Club in center city Philadelphia. With Rusty on banjo and Jan playing her saxophone they ran through a range of songs from Golden Slippers to God Bless America. Their performance was the perfect backdrop for the cocktail reception we had prior to lunch. Their excellent musicianship and friendly relaxed performance created exactly the atmosphere we were looking to achieve. I would recommend this talented duo for any event.
