Lyrics

It was such a special day when you were finally born
Excitement came with pictures of your tiny little form
The family would give a cheer and might have gotten loud
My parents now would become “Great”! and they were very proud

And when the dust had settled, when realty set in
A plan was put in place to give you a chance to win
It was hard to make the choice and accept the pain
You had a new beginning but our lives were not the same

You were never really gone, you lived within our hearts
We couldn’t watch you grow but you remained a special part
We wondered how you were doing till you picked up the phone
Then the world was good again the day that you came home

I guess you had a normal life like other kids you knew
With Halloweens and in-betweens and birthdays through and through
And as the years went rolling by, we knew that you were fine
And secretly we all would wish you would come back some time

Instrumental Break

Then Christmas time had come around and whispers would abound
The rumor was, you just might “make it” and maybe come around
And when the day had finally come the day that you arrived
It was a special Christmas to have you back in our lives

You were never really gone, you lived within our hearts
We couldn’t watch you grow but you remained a special part
We wondered how you were doing till you picked up the phone
Then the world was good again the day that you came home
Then the world was good again the day that you came home
